OSOE: Micro Rig Series

Details
Category: Vests / Platforms

Need a barebones chest rig? Then look no further than the Micro Rig series. They fill a dual role purpose as a light patrol load or to be an easy grab and go rig. Starting with the AK/M4 variant, this one has 2 rifle mag pouches and a utility pouch built in.

The mag pouches can hold either 2 AK or M4 mags. To accomplish this the main flaps are adjustable height with a velcro connection. The flaps are made of 3" webbing with cordura on top to give a nice heavy duty feel. The ends are left without hook velcro to create nice pulltabs. The utility pouch has 2 velcro strips for the main flap connection. The area and spacing makes it secure, yet easy to get a hand in there and open. The inside even has loop velcro for modular accessories. On the back of the panel is a bonus incorporated handle to enhance grab and go options. The main AK/M4 variant panel is about 14" x 7" while the PALS variant is about 13" x 7". The PALS version offers 8 channels x 3 rows of mounting space which is a commonly preferred modular size for a chest rig like this.

For qualities both variants share; this includes 1" waist straps and 1.5" shoulder straps with SRB buckles for all. There is plenty enough strap slack and adjustment to fit a low or high ride on most folks. On top are also pull tabs to assist in accessing the middle slim pocket. This pocket includes a large 12" x 3" loop velcro field inside for further modular possibilities. Although the micro rigs shine most as chest rigs, the user is free to play with the supplied straps to turn them into shoulder bags or bandoleers as desired. Since SRBs are on every strap, in chest mode these rigs are easy to remove, however may take some practice quickly putting on. I recommend experimenting with consistently having one side of straps connected with as few straps released as possible that will still allow donning. As with all OSOE products, the build quality is great on these items.
