Snap Shackle Rig

Details
Category: Prototypes
Created: Monday, 09 May 2011 22:00

Original Design intent: To be added to belts or vests to give quick release capability.
I started off with this thing using velcro to attach and folks showed interest, but it was a lot more manufacture work than it needed to be and would require at least 2 sizes to cover both small personal belts and big duty belts.

I was looking into the classic good, but boring tri-glides and fortunately got in a batch of G-hooks. The end result is simple while allowing good size adjustment and being very durable. As a further bonus, turning the rig around to have the release on the desired side does not alter other functionality. Perhaps not so quick to take on and off, but that is what the snap shackle is for. Elastic helps with slack management between all the possible size adjustments.
